Are aftermovies a thing of the past? We’ve been creating them since well before 23bis existed, capturing festivals and unforgettable moments. Today, social media favors speed and spontaneity. Quick, ephemeral content floods our screens and leaves little space for productions with depth and value, especially in the event world right ? But Festi’Neuch knows how powerful a well-made aftermovie can impact their brand notoriety.
the challenge
With dozens of posts shared each day during the four-day festival and hundreds of thousands of fans reached, Festi’Neuch knows how to make noise in the moment. But what happens after the music fades? How do you stay present in the minds of your sponsors, your audience, your volunteers and partners? How do you sustain your brand’s reputation throughout the year? A well-crafted aftermovie can become your centrepiece. A powerful reminder, a lasting one, that represents you and that media and people can revisit and reuse. But the stakes are high. Generic content is quickly forgotten, or worse, can even discredit your event.
The approach
We sent out the smallest crew possible, two directors already too old for the job, armed with 2–3 completely busted cameras. As per usual they went way too far with a concept that tried to tick every box to please everyone (and therefore no one). Only after 18 reinterpretations did they finally find the solution: smash it all up, clash Idles with Philippe Katerine, and reuse all the trash footage to make a film they themselves describe as “Immersal” (from the German immer = always, and sal = dirty).
