A first film, for Khalissa Akadi and for us. This time, there was no client brief to start from. Together with HEAD Genève, we made it the very first 23bis Originals production, from the writing all the way to the national competition in Winterthur.
This time, nobody placed an order.
Usually, we tell other people's stories, starting from a brief. Entre-deux came from somewhere else: from a director, Khalissa Akadi, and a story that belongs to her. Our role changed in nature. The job was to support her so her project kept all its strength, from the page to the screen.
A first film, a first co-production.
Entre-deux is Khalissa's bachelor graduation film. It's her springboard, and we wanted to give her the best possible conditions, in substance and in form. It's also our first co-production with HEAD Genève, a school with a real knack for bringing singular talent to light. For funding, we knocked on the door of public funders, and they showed up. Thank you to the FOC, Cinéforom, Loterie Romande and A nous de jouer.
A film that feels like us.
Entre-deux matters to us because of the space it gives women and young talent in filmmaking. Directing, cinematography, editing and production: women held the key roles. It shows in the film's subject, and just as much in the way the team worked together. A huge thank you to everyone who had a hand in it.
