Festi'Neuch – Aftermovie

Are aftermovies a thing of the past? We've been creating them since the early 2010s, well before 23bis came into existence. Capturing festivals and unforgettable moments. Today, social media favors speed and spontaneity. Quick, ephemeral content floods our screens and leaves little space for productions with depth and value, especially in the event world. Festi’Neuch, however, understands the power of a well-made aftermovie, and the impact it can have on their brand.
The challenge
With dozens of posts shared each day during the four-day festival, and hundreds of thousands of fans reached, Festi’Neuch knows how to make some noise. But what happens after the music fades? How do you stay present in the minds of your sponsors, your audience, your volunteers and partners? How do you sustain your brand’s reputation throughout the year? A well-crafted aftermovie can become your centrepiece. A powerful and lasting reminder that represents what you're all about.A robust foundation that media and people can revisit and reuse. But the stakes are high. Generic content is quickly forgotten, or worse, can even discredit your event.
We sent out the smallest crew possible, Lorenzo and Nathan, two dudes who are probably too old for the job, armed with 2–3 completely busted cameras. As per usual, they went way too far with a concept that tried to tick every box to please everyone (and therefore no one). A small, agile and experienced team that wouldn't settle with making anything less than... different.
The approach
Only after 18 reiterations on the project during the festival did they finally crack the code: tear everything apart, collide Idles with Philippe Katerine, and recycle all the discarded footage into a film that could be described as “Immersal” (immer = German for always, and sal = French for dirty). Then came the storm — an unexpected evacuation that cut the festival short and left behind a wave of emotions. The creative duo knew they had to capture that moment, too: the voice of the festival director, the images of festival-goers taking shelter, and the quiet strength of a community coming together. This was the kind of event that leaves a lasting mark on organizers’ hearts and a surprising beauty in its aftermath. So, is the aftermovie a thing of the past? Maybe. But the past is totally worth watching.
